If all the sisters were banned… What would happen?

Probably nothing.

http://talk.islamicnetwork.com/showthread.php?t=9182

I personally believe that coming online and staying in the sisters section only still goes against the whole 'stay in your homes' spirit, even if the posts are made 'in your home.'

Weather they are in a 'sisters only' section, or the corner table, or their friend's blog – they are still going against the spirit. There is hardly any difference between a woman who resides in her home, but leaves once a day to interact with other humans versus one who logs into a forum once (or more) a day to interact with other humans. Both are people who are not from those who 'stay in their homes' (at the very least, to be considered from this group, the majority of one's days should be spent not leaving the house).

A Woman goes from Her father's house, to her husband's house, to her grave.

That is it.

Yea, I get it. Everyone hates the new design.

http://talk.islamicnetwork.com/

I do not like it myself either, the big reason for the change was that the new VBulletin Version requires a new skin for all new features to work. So I took this opportunity to change the skin to one more functional, and more brand aware. It did not quite work out…

Spewing Hatred

http://forums.almaghrib.org/showthread.php?t=16156

I read this thread on the AlMaghrib Forums, and with all marriage threads – since marriage is such a big part of my over all agenda for the World, I felt compelled to leave a (sincere) comment.

Here is my comment:

If she can't cook, forget about it.
75% of your time with spouse(s) is spent eating. the rest of the time is spent discussing what to eat, when to eat and with who to eat it with.

Why post it here? Obviously, within five minutes, in the name of Everything Islamic and Good, my post was removed from 'there'

Those Wonderful E-Mail Forwards…

Worship Allah Wherever You Are

Every few weeks Fatima or I get a call from my mother, or an e-mail from her mother asking us to ‘put such and such up on Islamic Network.’ Nearly each time, it is one of those E-Mail forwards which we all Love to get (thanks Moms :) ).

There is a specific demographic of Muslims whom love to ‘receive’ and ‘share’ Islamic Multimedia Presentations, and even though many of us tend to discard the e-mails and the persons who send and receive them, they have a tremendous effect on many people. In hopes of channeling Islamic Network into being a service that would appeal to all audiences (even them!) we wanted to create something which would be worthy of our parents sending out to all of their friends and family.

That is why we created Worship Allah Wherever You Are

Background

  1. Fatima got ‘one of those e-mails’ (it was actually a very nice one)
  2. Fatima saved all of the pictures and wanted to do ‘something’ with it.
  3. Weeks later, we spoke about the phenomenon of how people love to send out e-mails, especially multimedia related matter (this was after getting one of the more unpleasant ones)
  4. We decided we should try to do one (eventually we hope to make it more regular)
  5. Fatima chose to make the first one based off of the e-mail we received earlier
  6. I came up with the Name.
  7. Fatima arranged the images in the correct sequence, while I prepared the opening and closing graphics
  8. I animated it under Fatima’s direction

Adhan
When I was setting up a (dedicated) computer for my parents to call the adhan, I wanted to find an adhan that was spectacular. To date, the only description I have ever seen of this adhan is ‘by Bosnian Brother’. I pushed for it, and Fatima Approved. We tried to match the sound as well as we could – but in the end had to remove some of it.

Publishing
We did not send out an e-mail, nor ask anyone to. We wanted to see if people would send out the e-mails without us having instigated it in any way.

Did it work?
Within a few days, after checking the comments and our referrer log we noticed hundreds of referrals from people checking their respective mail services. There were tens of referrals from individuals who had linked to it on their forums, posts, blogs and websites. It worked!

Feedback
To date, it has received the most comments from any of our features (50 and counting) (read all), and from the referrals logs in this last week, it seems another mailing list has picked us up.The most amazing thing however was not that ‘it worked’ but rather – the comments we received. Here is a list of some of the more notable comments.

I loved this, I got it from a friend of mine n iam glad she sent it to me. It moved my heart so much i couldnt help the tears flowing down. Iam proud to be a mislim and everytime i c a muslim who has faith in Allah I feel so happy n i pray to Allah for them. — Idil

as-salam alaikum, at first i hesitated to even click on the link but decided to do so. masha’allah, it’s beautiful, touching and inspiring. i wish the whole world could see it. and insha’allah i plan to send it to my non-muslim family members. jazakum allah khayr — amal ibrahim

salaamu alaikum,i havent seen something like this before, maasha allah its so great so pleasing,so touching.i wish everyone could see it — Zahra Abdi

it was very touching picture, and how beautiful the sound of azan is, i cried while listening to the azan, may Allah blessed all muslims over the world. Allahuakbar — Arif Abdullah

There are many more. I was very surprised that something this simple would have the affect that it did. I was contemplating putting all of them up, because each and every one is special in its own way – but again, it’s amazing – that something like this can actually affect so many people – I guess that explains why our parents (and everyone else) are always forwarding e-mails to us.

Summer Classes for Arees

I believe that Arees is the only real shot an American Muslim has to become a serious student of knowledge. Of course, most who sign up, or even finish will not retain what they learn, or do anything of value with their education — but, none the less, there is always the possibility that just one person may actually move on and do something amazing with their life, so I am very excited to be a part of it.

Shaikh Isam spends nearly thirty hours of each week physically teaching (countless other hours are spent in preperation, grading, e-mails, answering questions, etc.). For any given class, two people from a pool of three (Shahada, Khalil, and Hani) have to physically be in each class to

  • Broadcast it
  • Provide Techincal Support
  • Tape it to Produce VIDEO / DVD
  • Record the Audio.

It is quite a lot of work on all parties involved, and I had assumed everyone, most of all Shaikh Isam welcomed the summer as an opportunity for a much deserved break. So it was very surprising when he announced his plans for a Summer Arees Semester! However shortly after, we realized that the Summer Classes would be crucial if we wanted to maintain the level of quality we were after for the Arees Online, and Arees on Demand services.

I pushed for us to tape each class, though nearly everyone objected to taping both on weekdays and weekends. We made many mistakes, learned from them, refined our system, and now I am stoked that we have the ability to be able to produce a finished product at the end of each day. It did however, take us over 200 man hours and $30,000 to get it right – but, in the end – we have a final product which we are all proud of. The sad thing is even though we taped each class of the first semester (and it was a very painful process to record high quality audio, whatever video we could get, and the broadcasts, in the end (and we knew it all along), it just was not good enough. It was not up to a level of quality that we are happy with. Towards the last few weeks, we finally got the production system working the way we want. I will put up an entire class to show a sample of what one of the final products will look like. I would however like to point out, that it is still years ahead of anything else that is on the market! This summer program will allow us to re-capture the first semester from the beginning, and that’s the really exciting part for me.
